Library and info

The Library and Information Sector gathers an impressive collection of literature and arts. This collection consists of approximately 12,000 volumes, including rare works, periodicals and reference works. It contains Murilo Mendes’ collection of books, as well as a collection of renowned intellectuals’ libraries from the cultural and artistic scene of Juiz de Fora, which serve as a complementary framework for the poet’s library: the artist and teacher João Guimarães Vieira (Guima), engineer and professor Arthur Arcuri, the writer Gilberto Alencar and his daughter Cosette Alencar, the writer Cleonice Rainho, as well as the Polyhedron library, which has the poet’s works of reference and books with literary and artistic themes. The Sector also has a file composed of documents – including letters and photographs – by the poet Murilo Mendes and the other holders that compose the bibliographic collection.
